RERA Annual Conference and General Meeting

On behalf of the Regional Energy Regulators Association of Southern Africa (RERA) and our gracious Host Member Regulator, the Electricity Control Board (ECB) of Namibia, it is with distinct honour and privilege to invite you to participate in the RERA Annual Conference and other events at the MTC Dome Hotel in Swakopmund, Namibia from 07-11 April 2025.

 

The RERA Events including the Annual Conference shall be held under the theme:

 

The Annual Conference provides an outstanding forum and opportunity for the energy sector regulators, industry leaders, development partners, policy makers, utilities/operators, investors, financiers, academics, cooperating and development partners, and other relevant stakeholders in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and other parts of the world to network and exchange information on pertinent energy related developments. It is anticipated that the Conference would attract between 100-150 delegates from around Southern Africa and beyond.

 

The Annual Conference scheduled on 07-08 April 2025 will have the following Sessions with interesting and topical regional issues for discussion:  

• The role of Regulators in a Just Energy Transition and renewable energy development in the region;

• Financing and Regulatory Framework for Just Energy Transition;

• Artificial Intelligence and the Just Energy Transition;

• Experiences beyond the SADC region;

• RERA Executive Committee Meeting on 07 April 2025;

• Pre-conference Events on energy sector issues on 08 April 2025; and

• The 11th Forum for Board Members/Commissioners from RERA Members on 08 April 2025; and

 

The programme of events will be highly informative, stimulating and interactive in the quest to foster high-level discussions that would contribute to accelerate the energy transition that is efficient, sustainable, harmonised and investor friendly. It will feature distinguished speakers to share their expert insights and opinions on pertinent electricity/energy developments and regulatory issues. As well as gaining valuable information on issues regarding regional energy regulatory initiatives and the status of the regional energy industry, participants will also enjoy unique networking opportunities.

 

RERA also welcomes expressions of interest for partnerships by way of sponsorships, organising side events, exhibitions or speakers on energy and regulation related issues and please feel free to contact the Secretariat at your earliest opportunity.
